I just finished my fifth tournament so far this year on the Champions Tour in Atlanta. The tournament was held at TPC Sugarloaf; a very good layout. Let me tell you – it rained hard each day! It rained so much the final round was canceled.
I shot 69-72 and a tie for 20th. My best finish this far and $21,000. That’s a lot of golf lessons! I lipped out a hole in one on 16 on National television and birdied the last hole. Glad for that. A few shots lower and I’d be smiling bigger.
Brett, Mark Andrew and I are putting together a special Pro-Am with 10 Champion Tour players in August.
We have a wonderful group of Tour pros coming which includes friend Olin Brown who won this weeks event. Rocco Mediate is coming also. He is a character and a half! His caddy used to loop for me over 20 years ago. It’s going to be an amazing event. I encourage everyone to be a part of this rare opportunity August 16-17!!!!
David Frost who won in Mississippi will be here also. His nickname for me is “Superman.” He gave that to me because I’m in the workout trailer whenever he goes in there. I’m saving my grandpa but trying to stay young from the neck down.
I believe every Champions Tour player coming has won out there but me. Shoot, I like to change that I’m a hurry!
The Hall of Fame pitcher who played for the Atlanta Braves was there. I asked him what made him “great.” He said dedication, discipline and not being afraid to fail. Only seeing failure as an opportunity to get better. That truly spoke to me. I had breakfast with Bernhardt Langer, he said the same thing and added a big heart.
I’ve finished higher each week. I like the way I’m trending. I appreciate everyone’s interest and support.
Many thanks,
Jeff Coston
